All of my public and private classes are based on the "User's Guide to Your Body" curriculum developed in collaboration with Maren Waldman of Moving Joy Studios. Maren is also a New York Licensed Massage Therapist and a wonderful dancer, dance teacher and passionate student of human movement.
The "User's Guide to Your Body" courses are designed to help anyone better understand how the body works in movement, and translate that into an effective self-care routine consisting of self massage and stretching.
These classes are offered as a series of two-hour sessions, held once a week over six weeks. The classes can also be contracted for groups. For example, the session called "Reaching Out - The Arms" helps maintain healthy hands and prevent carpal tunnel symptoms, and it has been popular with businesses that require a lot of computer work. "Ease & Flexibility · Hips and Lower Back" is an ideal class for those who have to do a lot of lifting.
Each class includes a brief audio / visual presentation of how the muscles in that area of the body function and how they are most efficiently used. There is also a demonstration and supervised practice session of a self-massage routine using simple props such as tennis balls to help maintain healthy, pain free use of that area.
